Today I was sitting in the dining commons alone doing work on my laptop. The lunch rush had just ended and there weren't too many people around. Since I'm sick I was drinking a mug of green tea with honey to soothe my throat. When I finished my tea I really wanted to go refill my mug, but I didn't want to leave all my stuff at the table or carry all of it with me. I was afraid that once I left someone would grab my laptop.I could have just not gotten another mug of tea, but that just wasn't an option at the moment.
Then I noticed that there were two people sitting at the table next to me. I turned to them and asked them to watch my stuff while I got another cup of tea. When I came back my stuff was fine and I had my cup of delicious hot tea. All was good with world.
It wasn't until later that I realized the irony in what had I done. I had asked two strangers to watch my belongings because I was afraid that the other strangers would take them. How odd.
